Kegel Balls Sizing Guide: How to Measure for Ben Wa Balls

Kegel Balls Sizing Guide: How to Measure for Ben Wa Balls

Editorial Team |

Perhaps the best way to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles is to use kegel balls. These small spheres, also known as Ben Wa balls, Venus balls, pleasure balls, love balls, or geisha balls, have been used by women for centuries as they are the best way to give your pelvis a proper workout. So, today, we discuss how to measure your body with kegel balls, and we’ll also outline the benefits the female body can reap from regularly using pleasure balls.

What are Kegel Balls?

Kegel balls are small, smooth spherical,or oblong objects that are placed into the vagina to exercise the pelvic floor muscles. There are different models, like single balls or two connected balls; they usually come with a retrieval cord. To use the kegel balls, you need to insert them into the vagina and try to hold onto them with the pelvic muscles; this way, you are tightening the pelvic floor muscles and gaining stronger muscles that can lead to a tighter vagina, better sex, help with incontinence, stronger orgasms, and even recovery after giving birth. But how do you measure the size of kegel balls that fit you?

How to Measure for Ben Wa Balls?

Measuring for Ben Wa balls is slightly different than measuring for regular sex toys. You need to wear these into the vagina, so knowing the size you can safely and comfortably manage is the most important thing. You can measure this in one of two ways:

Use your fingers – Since the kegel balls don’t need to go too deep into the vagina, you can use your fingers to measure how much your vagina can take. For this, get some lube and insert one finger into the vagina; you don’t have to be particularly aroused to measure for kegel balls. Make sure the fingers don’t provide too much stretch, as you want these to fit nicely and not slip out. Then, measure around your finger/s, and you’ve measured the circumference you can safely take. Divide the circumference by 3.14, and you’ll get the diameter of the geisha balls you can take. Our product descriptions clearly outline the important dimensions of every product.

Compare tampon size – another way to measure Kegel balls is to compare the usual tampon size you use. If you use a small tampon and it moves around, it points to a larger size, which means you should look for medium-sized Kegel balls.

Kegel Ball Weight

Another important measurement when it comes to geisha balls is their weight. These can be made from various materials, and, of course, these come with different weights. Please note that the diameter of the Kegel balls does not always correspond to the weight, as there are smaller yet weighted balls, and there are bigger yet lighter Kegel balls.

The lightest models are made from silicone, ABS, or PVC (we favor silicone), as these are lightweight body-safe sex toy materials. The usual weight for beginner Ben Wa balls is about 20 grams or 0.7 ounces. The models made from stainless steel and glass tend to weigh more; there are also weighted Kegel balls made from silicone. The weight of the heaviest Ben Wa balls can go up to 110 grams or close to 3.88 ounces.

How to Use Kegel Balls?

We have a complete guide on how to choose kegel balls, so here is a quick guide on how to use these. Please note that you can use these in different ways for different results, and here is how to get a targeted pelvic floor muscle workout:

  • Wash the balls, dry them, and get some water-based lube
  • Lie on your back, apply lube to the balls and yourself, and slowly push the balls into the vagina
  • Once these are comfortably inside, tighten the pelvic floor muscles, lifting and squeezing the balls
  • Hold the muscles contracted for about 5 seconds, then release and relax for 5 seconds
  • Repeat about 5 times in a row, but don’t do more than 20 times per day.

Please consider your experience when using geisha balls, as it is possible to over-train your Kegel muscles and then feel discomfort, which can do more harm than good. So, we prepared the following guidelines for using geisha balls based on experience level:

  • Beginners should only use the Kegel balls lying down and should try to keep the muscles contracted for 5-10 seconds, relax, and repeat until you feel the muscles starting to strain, or about 15-20 repetitions a day.
  • Intermediate users can wear the Kegel balls for about 10 minutes at a time, and they can stand up and move with them if they are comfortable that the balls won’t slip out. They can also try doing some light stuff with them to feel the muscle contractions.
  • Experienced users or women with very strong Kegel muscles should not have any issues with wearing & holding the Kegel balls in the vagina while moving around with them, doing chores, or even going out of the house with them. They can wear the Kegel balls for up to 6 hours a day.

Using the Kegel balls during playtime can significantly increase arousal and improve the intensity and frequency of your orgasms, as this helps increase the vagina’s sensitivity. Here is how to add love balls to your playtime. Start by using your clean Kegel balls and some water-based lube.

One way is to insert the geisha balls into the vagina before you go on date night; you can include your partner in the insertion process. As you move, the balls will press on the vaginal walls, and as your body tries to hold them inside, the more aroused you’ll become. Make sure you take out the balls before you insert something else in the vagina, like a dildo, a vibrator, or your partner’s penis.

Another way is to insert the Kegel balls into the vagina and then proceed to have anal sex. It does not have to involve full anal penetration, but you can use a butt plug or even anal beads to enhance the pleasure and push the Ben Wa balls against the G-spot for intense pleasure.
